The NEWA Maxi MP multi-use submersible pump, previously known as the Cobalt Aquatics MJ600, is built to perform and withstand the harshest conditions. For users of reef aquarium reactors, the MP pump is an excellent choice. However, it is important to note that reef aquariums have high levels of calcium, which can lead to the buildup of calcium deposits on the pump's impeller and shaft. This calcium buildup is not covered by the warranty, but can be easily prevented through regular maintenance.

Every 2-3 months, the MP pump should be removed from the system, and the impeller should be soaked in distilled vinegar for 15-20 minutes. Then, the impeller and other parts should be scrubbed with an old toothbrush, and the impeller should be worked up and down the shaft to break up any mineral deposits. After rinsing with fresh water, the impeller and pump can be reinstalled into the system.
