Maxi Powerhead MP1200 Water Pump

The NEWA Maxi MP multi-use submersible pump, previously branded as Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200, is built to perform and last under the harshest conditions. Ideal for a variety of aquarium and hydroponic applications, this power head is made in Italy.

The pump features a fully rotational output, a fully sealed intake for both internal and external use, and a universal intake tube. It also includes an adjustable hanger with a cord guide and a 6-foot power cord, as well as an adjustable venturi with a silencer and a triple suction cup mount. Additionally, it has a large intake screen for use with a sponge, a 1/2-inch OD output connection, and a 3/4-inch OD intake connection.

The NEWA Maxi MP pump is available in four models: MP400, MP600, MP900, and MP1200. The MP400 model delivers 106 GPH with a maximum height of 29 inches and a power consumption of 5 watts. The MP600 model offers 160 GPH, a maximum height of 53 inches, and a power consumption of 7.5 watts. The MP900 model provides 230 GPH, a maximum height of 46 inches, and a power consumption of 8.5 watts. Lastly, the MP1200 model delivers 295 GPH, a maximum height of 69 inches, and a power consumption of 20 watts.

For users who plan to use the MP pump with reactors in reef aquariums, it is important to note that reef aquariums often have high levels of calcium, which can lead to the buildup of calcium deposits on the pump's parts, such as the impeller and impeller shaft. This calcium buildup is not covered by the warranty, but it can be easily managed through routine maintenance.

Every 2-3 months, users should remove the MP pump, take out the impeller, and soak it in distilled vinegar for 15-20 minutes. Then, they should scrub the parts with an old toothbrush and work the impeller up and down the shaft to break up any mineral deposits. After rinsing the parts with fresh water, the impeller should be re-installed, and the MP pump should be put back into the system. This simple maintenance routine will keep the MP pump running like new for years.
